Every firm now uses the same models on the same documents, so neither is a moat. What cannot be copied is the firm's own accumulated understanding: its recurring positions, its playbook deviations, its precedent, and what it knows about the people it deals with.

Compiled from concluded matters

Closing a matter — or an explicit contribution — offers its settled knowledge to the firm layer, where it is compiled into cross-matter entries: entities, concepts, positions, playbook deviations, precedent, clauses and expertise.

Ethical walls, enforced on every read

A walled reader does not see a redacted entry; they see an entry that never contained the walled contribution, down to the individual claim. A wall raised today hides the right spans on the next read, with nothing to recompile.

A human publishes it

Compiled entries land as drafts. Each claim is re-grounded against its source anchors by an independent model, and a named person promotes it. Nothing self-publishes into the firm's institutional record.

Yours to take

Both the matter and firm layers are represented in the Open Knowledge Format — a vendor-neutral standard with keyed citations and trust signals — and export as a bundle. Your institutional memory is never hostage to us.

Citations are keyed to their source, not numbered by position. A numbered list would quietly re-point at the wrong document the moment a claim is filtered out.
